Damn, I thought this was over with. Shyne has his sentencing and everything was cool right? Singer/actor Jennifer Lopez will reportedly be testifying for the first time about a 1999 nightclub shooting which involved incarcerated rapper Shyne and her ex-boyfriend Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. On December 27th 1999, Diddy and Lopez accompanied by Shyne and their entourages partied at the now-defunct Club New York. During the night, a gang member would throw a wad of cash at Diddy and pull a gun on him Shyne would respond by pulling out a gun and firing. Natania Reuben, an innocent bystander, would be hit in the face. Diddy would be cleared of any wrongdoing in the incident via a trial but Shyne would be served a 10 year sentence for possessing a gun and firing it into a crowd. Lopez never testified during the trial and has never spoken publicly about the incident According to The New York Post, Reuben’s lawyers served Lopez with a subpoena last week informing her that she has to testify about the incident at an upcoming deposition. The magic million is within sight of Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III.” The Cash Money/Universal album continues to lead Nielsen SoundScan’s Building chart, released today (June 13). Based on the new tally, the album could sell a million copies by the time SoundScan closes out its tracking week on Sunday night. Unweighted sales of “Carter” through the close of business yesterday stood at 630,000. That’s the largest number the Friday Building chart has seen since it began in September. The last album to rack up a similar number on a Friday Building chart was Kanye West’s “Graduation” (Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam), which posted a 600,000 figure the Friday of its release. “Graduation” would go on to shift 957,000 in its first full week. The last album to sell a million copies in a week was 50 Cent’s “The Massacre” (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), when it bowed with 1.1 million in March 2005. Billboard estimates the nine merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan’s Building chart — Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Circuit City, iTunes, Starbucks, Borders, Target, Anderson Merchandisers and Handleman Co. — comprise about 80% of all U.S. album sales. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/…_id=1003816583

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Rock pioneer Bo Diddley has died. He was 79. A spokeswoman says Diddley died of heart failure Monday. He had suffered a heart attack in August 2007, three months after suffering a stroke while touring in Iowa. Doctors said the stroke affected his ability to speak, and he had returned to Florida to continue rehabilitation. The legendary singer and performer was known for his homemade square guitar, dark glasses and black hat. His first single, “Bo Diddley,” introduced record buyers in 1955 to his signature rhythm: bomp ba-bomp bomp, bomp bomp, often summarized as “shave and a haircut, two bits.” The B side, “I’m a Man,” with its slightly humorous take on macho pride, also became a rock standard. © 2008 The Associated Press.
